Hi guys!
So last week we talked about a survey tool called Polldaddy
and how it is a great tool to understands people’s opinions in a quick manner. This
week I will be switching gears and explore a slideshow tool called Animoto.
Animoto
Animoto is a video creation tool that creates a
video slide show from your chosen pictures, video clips and short sentences. If
you have look at another page of mine titled “My slideshow” I mention how it is
similar to Words powerpoint except it allows you to add non copy written music
and only allows you to add short texts limited by the number of allowed
character.
After exploring this tool I quickly noticed how
easy it was! It was perfect because it took you step by step on how to use it
in a simple guided manner. This tool is a great tool for presentations and a
different (good different) substitute to PowerPoint or any other slideshow
tools : prezi etc. This tool allows for an efficient way to communicate information
to other individuals and allows the creator to learn how to keep information
concise and quick all while giving enough detailed information.
How can Animoto build
knowledge?
For the viewer, they are gaining knowledge about
the topic being viewed on the slide. For the creator it builds knowledge in
organization skills because they have to present their thoughts on the
slideshows in a fashion that makes sense for the viewer. The character limit in
Animoto is not only a way for the creator to learn what information is
important to express but it also helps the viewer to better and more easily
remember the information. Finally Animoto helps build knowledge in public
presentations.
How is this tool
different from other expressive tools?
As mentioned
many times before Animoto is different from powerpoint because it allows the
creator to add music to the slide and it has a character limit to texts. It is
also different from google docs slide because only you, the creator, can edit it’s
the slides contents. You could go as far as saying that Animoto is a tool that doesn’t
quite support collaborative work because editing is private to the creator

You knew this was coming! I would add this tool
under the producing content subtheme which is under the synthesizing and
creating part because am creating a place where information can be viewed. I
can also put in it under the communication subtheme which is under the collaborative
and socializing part. Although this is not so much of a collaborative tool, it
is a social tool allowing anyone to have access to it (if found). I am also communicating
information. In addition people can put comments about the slide thus
communicating their opinions.

Well that is all for this week. Please check out my
Animoto slide under my page “My slideshow”. It will help you gain a little bit
of knowledge on copy-write.
Cheers.
